What Is “Mascara Cocktailing” — & Why Is It All Over TikTok?

There’s a makeup trick floating around the internet – makeup artists swear by it, celebrities are fans, and TikTok beauty content creators are experimenting with it at home. It’s the “mascara cocktail” and it could change your makeup habits.
Despite its theatrical name, the Mascara Cocktail is very simple. It consists of multiple layers of mascara to create a unique and personalized look. There’s a reason why it resonates with so many people: mascara wands and formulas are designed for different purposes – such as lengthening, curling or volumizing – and there’s no one product on the market that can do it all. By creating a mascara cocktail, you can customize the look of your lashes to suit your style and taste.
Since the idea of infinitely mixing mascara formulas can be overwhelming, let’s simplify things a little: we’ve found a tried-and-true combination that will help you get ultra-long, ultra-voluminous lashes with two classic L’Oréal Paris mascaras. Gather your ingredients and follow the recipe below.
Ingredients

● Eyelash curler
● L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Original Mascara
● L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara
1. The Prep
For best results, you will need to prime the canvas. Start by washing your lashes with a mild cleanser or makeup remover to remove any residual product and reduce the risk of bacteria entering the mascara tube.
Next, curl your lashes close to the root and keep the curler closed for 5 to 10 seconds, then move your lashes down about halfway and curl again to get that wide-eyed Bambi look.
2. The Base
Start with a mascara that separates and defines your lashes to avoid clumping from the start. L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Original Mascara provides an excellent base for your cocktail. The flat side of its flexible precision brush lengthens your lashes by up to 60%, while the comb side of the brush separates them for a clump-free finish.
Start at the base of your lashes and wiggle the brush upward. Wait for your first coat to dry, then add one or two more coats to reach each lash. For complete coverage and longer length, you can also add one coat of product to the front side of your lashes.
Pro Tip: Apply only one coat of mascara to your lower lashes, as these delicate beauties can easily be pressed down or smudged.
3. The Grand Finale
Next, you’ll need to add lots of volume. L’Oréal Paris Volumous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara is both long-lasting and ultra-volumizing, with an ultra-soft, wavy brush that has over 200 bristles to grab every lash and create thick, voluminous lashes. Add a layer of Lash Paradise using the same technique as above. However, if you’re looking for an extra dramatic effect, add a second coat at the tip.
